I fell asleep in the hallway
Or to put it another way
I only made it as far as the hallway.
It had been a big night
And when I awoke
I knew it was to be a bigger day.
Hangovers are worse in the summer
The heat has a way of crippling you
And the blazing sun
Eats away at the eyes.
I poured myself
A large glass of water
Only to vomit it up
While the cat perched on my shoulders
And 75 dollars of ale
Made a quick exit.
We had done well the night before
The evening had been a success
We had come as close to death or life
And when the phone rang
I knew it was going to start all over it again
