I was twenty-one and just back from a trip around the world. Well, as far as Istanbul,
where I got some sort of weird flu. So my parents’ graduation present ended with me sitting in Montreal’s new Mirabel airport- so empty after the rest of the world- bent over, holding myself in but not wanting to leave my bags to run to the can.

Lunch break- I just came in from outside. I had been laying down napping on the grass next to the parking lot, woke up with a gull laying near me. ‘Hi bird’, I said to it.
It looked funny, a little bit wide on one side as it lay there, looking around a bit, relaxing. I wondered whether it was like that because she was full of eggs. (more…)
